Nutella and Via Mare join forces to spread Christmas cheer

All over the world, Christmas will not be the same this year. At the same time, Filipinos are a resilient population, and our Christmas spirit will continue as we go our merry way with our Christmas celebrations.

Times have changed, however, impacting how we celebrate this season. With this in mind, Nutella has always been about spreading Joy and Optimism, and the brand recognizes that tradition is very important for Filipinos, and they’ve found a way to continue to spread holiday cheer this year.

Over the years, Nutella has carried out campaigns that bring its core mission to the forefront, through breakfast campaigns and bread-pairing all over the world. This year, Nutella will drive the experience further through fresh pairings that are relevant to Filipinos. Nutella is bringing the all-day breakfast truck back into town and introducing a new pairing – the all-time Filipino Holiday favorites that make Filipino celebrations merry – Bibingka and Putobumbong. Add a delicious Nutella twist to these holiday classics and create new experiences this Christmas!

A Friendly Reminder: Don’t Eat Your Heart Out: Understanding the ‘Holiday Heart Syndrome’

This year, we have been faced with an unprecedented pandemic which has taught us never to take our health for granted. But as we near its end and gear up for the holidays, there are still plenty of things to watch out for when it comes to our health.

“That is because while the holidays are a time for merriment and indulgence, it has also been linked to a high incidence of heart attacks, stroke, and rising blood pressure, leading to the phenomenon called ‘Holiday Heart Syndrome,” said Dr. Amal Makhloufi Benchouk, The Country Lead of Sanofi Philippines.

Century Pacific Commits to Coconut Replanting Initiative, Subsidiary aims to be carbon neutral by 2028

Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE: CNPF), through its coconut manufacturing arm Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures, Inc. (CPAVI), has signed a partnership with Friends of Hope to donate quality seedlings to smallholder coconut farmers -- enabling the planting of productive coconut trees and the replacement of non-fruit-bearing senile ones in South Central Mindanao.

In addition to expanding long-term coconut supply in the region, planting the coconut trees will sequester about 416,680 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the next eight years. As a result, CNPF’s coconut subsidiary aims to be “carbon-neutral” by 2028.

Grade 12 artist makes awesome artworks with banana catsup

When hard times strike and traditional resources are out of reach, the most creative of us can find ingenious ways to make one-of-a-kind works of art.

This is especially true for Filipinos—and no one proves our resourcefulness and creativity more than this amazing Grade 12 artist, who didn’t need paint or pencils to create artwork. No, Vincent Dwight Paulo from Nueva Ecija uses banana catsup to draw portraits of famous personalities while staying at home during the community quarantine.

While he first started with a catsup portrait back in 2018, it was during the quarantine when he really started honing this unique art skill. “I really engaged myself in doing catsup art since school and art supplies shops were closed,” said Vincent. “I was running out of materials, so I used catsup instead.” With creating catsup art being only a hobby for him, Vincent never thought it would become as popular as it did.

 Working with catsup

Catsup was not the first medium he had used to create art, but it was the one within reach at home—which is how he ended up creating portraits of celebrities like Liza Soberano, Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Taylor Swift, and One Direction.

“I really loved catsup because it is readily available inside the house,” Vincent shared. “I really love exploring and trying other mediums just to try something new. I don’t like to stick to the conventional and typical artworks that we see.”
