Thank You Samsung Philippines!

One of the best things that ever happened to my blogging career (chos!) this year is being part and being invited by Samsung Philippines to their events, launches, etc. I'm also thankful to a dear blogger friend Ria for getting me and my sistah Nikole in to Samsung's media family (yeah!).


Samsung Philippines take care of their partners very well I must say. They're very generous and the queen of Samsung's Public Relations, Ms. O is very respectful and accommodating. You will never feel that her position has got to her head in any way. Newbies or pro, we're all treated fairly. That's why, SAMSUNG PR and Ms. O indeed rocks!

The Face Shop Lip lovies

I want to thank my male friends in the office for they have given me such wonderful gifts. These two Face Shop lip lovies are indeed hit to every women. But I like most the Fresh Lip Balm, it was always present in my purse  since day one. I love its texture, its smell and its taste!   I cant' just get enough of it I would put it on every night too before going to bed.

Anyway the other lip love is a lip gloss tastes quite bland. I also don't like how it made my already full lips fuller. The texture feels really thick on my lips and the shades of pink don't suits me I think. But when the other colleagues in the office tried wearing it on their lips, they look "bagay".

OPI's "You're such a Kabuki Queen" Polish

I so love my polish today, OPI's "You're such a Kabuki Queen". The swatch is glossy in hot pink and  give my nails some head turns :). I had it painted from one of my fave nail spa, the Elite Nails Spa that is  owned by a friend. They have a lot of nice lacquer shades and nice brands of nail polish including the elusive OPI. You'll really have a hard time choosing what to put on your nails because everything looks really nice. :)

Wishlist

I suddenly came up with my own Christmas wishlist when I'm actually not into having one. I'm actually shy to have one and announce to my family/friends what gift(s) I want to receive this Christmas aside from, surprises are a more hit to me.

But I was thinking for the past few days on how, in my own small way I can be of help to our fellow kababayan who were affected with the loss of their loved ones, houses and properties due to the recent outburst of typhoon Sendong in the northern Mindanao. So I quickly made a shoutout in my facebook account and listed the stuff I want to receive should my friends and family would care to give me one but with an option to donate to the victims of calamity. If you're familiar with Charice's songs, the title of this blog post may look familiar to you. More than how great Charice singing these songs, I found the lyrics even greater - it has depth meaning that I and my current state can so relate.

I guess, the past month/year has become unhealthy when it comes to my relationship with my better half. I had thoughts I'll be leaving the house when 2012 comes in. I was decided and I guess the song "Before it Explodes", can explain better why...

High School Reunion

Thirteen Years after, I will be seeing my schoolmates this coming weekend for a Grand Reunion organized by a team of dedicated people, I’m actually excited! To plan and organize a gathering where 1000 people are expected to come is a no-joke.  I’ve seen a few disappointments aired over in our group’s page in facebook by some inconsiderate people who, instead of trying to find a way to be of help with the organizers, chose to be pa-DIVa.  Some comments may be reasonable but if people are already reaching out so that both ends could meet half-way, I don’t think we should make our confirmation of our attendance/presence as something hard for them to deal with. 

The big fuss over n’ over is somehow energy-depriving and irritating that’s why I’d like to commend my great batch-mates who took the challenge and were able to pull-off things altogether. Because mind you, my school – Rizal High School is indeed one of the world’s most’ and once hold a record of having the highest population of students in Guiness record.  Who would tell me reuniting these students (1000+ in numbers) for a grand reunion is just a piece of cake? Nobody, I guess. Facebook has been a great help too to find and call everyone who's on for the gathering.

BLOGGERS UNITED BAZAAR (Part 2)

It is the second installment of the first-ever Bloggers United: An Interactive Shopping Affair, which was held last May. This event is the perfect opportunity for both bloggers and their adoring readers to mingle and personally interact with each other. Now Showing: Won't Last A Day Without You :)

            They were such a smahs-hit in Star cinema’s romance comedy “Catch Me I’m In Love,” so a follow-up is in order. The movie that brings Sarah and Gerald together again in a pre-Christmas offering of Star Cinema and Viva Flims, "Won't Last A Day Without You".

            Although the public is well aware that Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson are not an “item” in real life, the two stars are accepted as screen lovers because of the chemistry between them.  Added factors include a good, credible love story that is well-executed.

            In “Catch Me I’m In Love”, Sarah and Gerald  were credible as sweethearts throwing mud at each other in a playful scene, he as a rich boy and she as a middleclass girl who love for each other knows no socio-economic boundaries.

            Fans will ge more “kilig” moments in “Won’t Last A Day Without you,” their second team-up co-produced by Star Cineman and Viva Films.

            Directed by Raz de la Torre, the movie also stars Joey de Leon and John “Sweet” Lapus.

            If in “Catch Me I’m In Love” Sarah and Gerald were catching each other because they were falling in love, in “Won’t Last A Day Without You” they realize that they won’t last a day without each other after they meet and match under circumstances common only in storybooks.

            Sarah plays deejay Heidee who dishes out pieces of advice to the lovesick and lovelorn.  Gerald plays Andrew, an easy-go-lucky playboy who treats girl as playthings.

            Gerald find himself a “love victim” when he hears his “kalokohan” being broadcast nationwide on deejay Heidee’s program. First, they get into a verbal clash and then they realize that they are falling for each other, setting love not just “on the air” but in the air” around them.

            The dilemma:  Who does and does an expert love adviser like dejay Heidee turn to when faced with a love problem?  And will the playboy love victim finally own up to his mistakes broadcast by the love adviser who ends up as the solution?

            “Won’t Last  A Day Without You” is Star Cinema/Viva Films’ pre-Christmas offering opeing in 100 theater nationwide on Nov. 30. You are all invited to “tune in.

Elianto Indigo Shine

To some people who know I so well would understand why most of the time I'm wearing nail polish in blue shades, blue is simply my favorite color.

Today's nail polish is another shade of blue: Elianto "Indigo Shine". The color is dramatic and bold; the glitters just add a little more twist. It compliments so much a fair skin of your fingers so this one is a winner purchase! Its best to wear on the usual girls night-out but since I rarely go out, still, I feel this color can suits an everyday scene.

The Kitchen Musical Gala Night - Live in Manila!

 Pan-Asian television musical drama series “The Kitchen Musical” literally invaded the country recently after its cast members flew from different parts of Asia  for a gala night held at the InterContinental Manila Hotel where they rendered sizzling hot musical performances with Pinoy pride and lead stars Karylle, Christian Bautista and Arthur Acuna.

The three had just arrived from a “The Kitchen Musical” road show in Indonesia and Malaysia and were joined by supporting cast members Thou Reyes, Carla Dunareanu, Gayle Nerva, Rebecca Spykerman, Nadiah M. Din, and Erwin Shah Ismail who, like true Asian superstars,  wowed the guests as they owned the stage singing TKM versions of the hit songs BOOM BOOM POW and OMG to the delight of their Singaporean producers from The Group Entertainment (TGE), local advertisers, bloggers, as well as select members of the entertainment press.

Also present during the gala night was CheeK, the creator and writer of “The Kitchen Musical” and TGE CEO Nelia Sutrisno and TGE Executive Vice President Christopher James.

Lucky fans from different Asian countries, who joined TKM’s on-air promo, also flew in to Manila and attended the gala. “Pilipinas Got Talent 3” grand winner Maasinhon Trio, R and B Prince JayR, international YouTube sensation Marie Digby, Zia Quizon, and TKM musical director Gerard Salonga also graced the stage and gave their own rendition of songs inspired from the show.

“The Kitchen Musical” gala night, hosted by “Us Girls” hosts Angel Aquino, Iya Villania, and Megan Young, was co-produced by TGE and its official Philippine free-TV carrier Studio 23, to serve as a thanksgiving to its stakeholders for the overwhelming support and success earned by the multi-million dollar franchise.

Aside from enjoying a wide following among its Asian market, “The Kitchen Musical” will soon be airing on western television. TGE CEO Nelia Sutrisno made the big announcement during the gala that USA’s ABC and Italy’s Casanova Multimedia bought the show’s format and will be remade respectively in their countries.

Currently, TKM airs in 16 countries all over Asia. It first premiered on Philippine free TV via ABS-CBN last Oct 2 and continues to air every Saturday on Studio 23.

Studio 23 Head March Ventosa said Studio 23 has been supporting the show as if it is its own. “A year ago they approached us, we saw the pilot, and we thought this is going to be a winner. We’ve had so much confidence in TKM that we programmed it back-to-back with ‘The X Factor USA’ which is a big show for Studio 23. It gives viewers a nice musical block for the weekend,” he added.

Born To Be A Hero Bloggers Night - Let's get Hero-rich!

The Born To Be a Hero Bloggers Night is one among events I always look forward to get invited to. When I started blogging, I am not the type of blogger who’d broadcast the content of my site, it’s like always for myself and for a very limited number of people’s consumption. But when a friend pushed me hard to be bold and loud about my thoughts and put them to writings, I gained 30% of my much-needed self-esteem, it was not bad for a start.

But right after we put up a site called Bloggers For A Cause, it was like the turning point of my passion for blogging. It added meaning to what I want to do best during my spare time and converted all my fears to collaboration of thoughts that lead to starting and nurturing my first blog which became four (blogs) in less than a year. The will to do something good for other people became my biggest motivation and gave the greatest feeling I never had before.

In support to another significant cause, my blogger friend Ely and I attended the very first “bloggers night” presented by the Francis Magalona Foundation (FMF) which is recently launched early of October. I personally admires the Magalona family when I was able to watched them on TV when they launched it, as FMF may also be translate to “Find Meaning in the Filipinos”, I can’t help but feel the great concern for the Filipinos of the person named after it, the late Master Rapper Francis Magalona.  Indeed, there is more and deeper aspirations behind every song he wrote and sing, I wouldn’t have thought of that much honestly. Since then, I found myself following what is next after launching the foundation and there I saw the invitation for the “Born To Be a Hero Bloggers Night”.

Bloggers Night

We arrived late at the venue which is held in a cool place called Co.Lab. Traffic was really bad that we missed the introduction part of the core leaders of FMF and The OneCore but just right in time when the main talk is about to start.

We were welcomed by FMF Chairman, Ms. Pia Magalona, who also shared that “FrancisM always believed that in order for the Filipinos to rise from poverty and other issues that concern the nation, they had to believe in themselves and have a change in mindset that hindered this transformation.” This is what Born To Be A Hero™ is all about- transforming your life by believing in yourself, harnessing your inner greatness and ultimately making better decisions for yourself, your family, your community and your country.

Then, each of us was given our FREE copy of the book “BORN TO BE A HERO” which is authored by the speaker herself, Ms. Pia Nazareno-Acevedo. Later on, we proceeded to the main program and had a few fun activities which we performed with our co-blogger partners. The Born To Be A Hero program is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Coach Pia. In the book’s introduction, Coach Pia mentions that after a life changing experience she began to notice all the simple heroic acts occurring around her. Instances wherein people would go about doing “what they were supposed to do,” despite circumstances that may be happening in their personal lives. They chose to be a hero but were not aware of the heroism of their acts. Born To Be A Hero revolutionizes the concept of heroism as any act that calls for you to step out of yourself whether consciously or unconsciously making yourself present to the moment for others – and for yourself.

Coach Pia was really good in discussing the book’s content where she needs interaction from us. Listening to her somehow made me realized a lot of things I should have long discovered within me – my capabilities to be a hero in my own littlest way. Plus, reading the book adds more realization significant in harnessing my own abilities and become an inspiration to others and collectively become one in becoming hero-rich to attain our goals for the common good.

Indeed, it was a night I felt fulfilled despite the worst traffic I ever experienced. To be there and be able to meet important people that share with you the greater meaning of their lives, I can say it’s one of the best events I have attended so far.

SUPER 12 KIDDIE COOKS GEAR UP FOR TOUGHER KITCHEN BATTLE

Amazing Kids! I guess everyone of you would agree with me as I describe the Super 12 Kiddie Cooks joining the final casts of a reality cooking show in ABS-CBN, the Jr. Master Chef Pinoy Edittion.

Last Wednesday, November  16, I am privileged to be invited to attend the pres con of Jr. Master Chef Pinoy Edition and meet the Super 12 Kiddie Cook finalists. It was also my second time to meet the gorgeous host  of the show, Ms. Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and the three resident chef /judges, who are all have nothing but good words for the kiddie cooks who made it to the Top 12. They said everyone is very competitive and has their own style in cooking and each has impressed them in their own ways. Although, Judy Ann and the chef /judges has their early favorites, they claimed that they cannot really predict who will be the very first Pinoy Jr. MasterChef winner yet because all 12 kiddie cooks are doing really great as the competition gets closer to final. But they're certain that every episode of Jr. Master Chef in its final weeks will be more challenging, full of surprises and of course absolutely sumptuous as the kids continue to face the challenges in the kitchen.

One of the highlights in the event is when the guests and media people were given access to Treston International College's culinary/kitchen area where the 12 kiddie cooks are busy preparing appetizers and desserts to be served to us later. We got the chance to get to know the kids and see them in action and it feels really great knowing how efficient these kids are in the kitchen.

During the pres con, the kids were asked by press people of who they think is their toughest competitor in the kitchen and the votes reveals that Philip is most considered by his peers as their toughest competitor. Surprisingly, the youngest and the cutest among them, Bianca (9 years old) is also in the top 3 being the threat to other kiddie cooks.

After several questions for the kids, the press also asked the chef judges and later expressed bigger interest on Judy Ann and started asking questions how she lost weight and achieved her great looks now.

I meant it when I say Judy Ann was gorgeous, she was wearing a very classy orange dress paired with a matching pumps with very minimal make-up. I was really in awe seeing how sexy she is now, months after she gave birth to her first born. The first time I saw her was in June and I guess that was only 2-3 months after giving birth and she already loss some pounds but the effect of pregnancy on her is still evident on her face and in her thighs but seeing her recently was something commendable for Juday. She is every-inch looking great and seems like motherhood has added the glow in her.

Weeks of tough cook-offs have brought together the bes t 12 kiddie cooks from the country in the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” impressing viewers with creations kids their age might not be able to cook with ease.

The kitchen battle is just about to heat up as the Super 12 faces all-new challenges to bring them closer to the MasterChef crown.

Taking a spot in the Super 12 is Bianca, 9, one of the youngest kiddie cooks in the show.  Both of her parents were formally trained in culinary arts and have taught her proper cooking techniques at such an early stage.

The cheerful Philip of Cebu, meanwhile, made his way into the viewers’ hearts by dancing every time his dish gets complimented by host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and chef judges Ferns, Laus, and Jayps.  He lacks formal cooking training but still manages to whip up the best-tasting dishes in the show and even led the culinary race last week by topping the scoreboard.

The kiddie cooking reality program showcases a pool of talented kids coming from different backgrounds.  There is Iain, who masterfully creates various Italian dishes which he and his family enjoy.

Filipino-Japanese Mika, on the other hands, is extensively trained in Japanese cuisine.  Although she prefers to bake, her skills in different cooking methods are just as refined.

Also getting into the Super 12 is Tricia, who plans to major in Business Management to help their family business thrive. She goes straight to their family-owned restaurant in Batangas everyday after school to watch their chefs cook or help out in preparing their customer’s orders.

There is also Patrick, who dreams of becoming a doctor someday, but also wants to pursue formal culinary studies after. During their family trips abroad, he asks his parents to buy him cooking tools and equipment instead of toys and gadgets.

Outside the kitchen, Miko is a school varsity basketball player.  He prepares breakfast for his family on Sundays and made his first dish, beef broccoli, when he was just eight years old.

Emman’s most memorable cooking experience was cooking pancakes for his mom who worked on a night shift when he was six year’s old.  From the usual panceakes, he can now cook a variety of dishes – ham and cheese omelet, beef steak, and pizza rolls, among others.

Meanwhile, eleven-year old Kyle has an instinctive approach to c ooking.  He is fond of using the Quido style – cooking through reliance on look, feel, and taste instead of measurements – a sign of an interesting career ahead of him.

The naturally curious Jobim likes to experiment in the kitchen by adding different herbs and spices to his dishes.  Sometimes when he and his family eat out, he requests to visit the restaurants kitchen to watch the chefs in action.

A devotee of “Junior MasterChef Australia” and a fan of its grand winner Isabella, Acce hopes to win the competition one dish at a time.  During an immersion, she wowed viewers with her spaghetti bolognes with béchamel sauce and tomato salsa.

Caitlin joined the cooking competition because it’s one way for her to spend more time with his father, who is currently working as an engineer in Abu Dhabi.  Although timid, she has impressed the judges early in the completion with her dishes like rice in amplaya silog, which gained the highest score in the program’s silog challenge.

The cooking showdown of the Super 12 kicks off this Saturday (Nov 19) as they conceive wow-worthy recipes made with shellfish in another Invention Test.

This Sunday (Nov 20), meanwhile, the 12 kiddie cooks will be divided into two competing groups and prepare a full meal consisting of an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert for Teston College students and employees, who will serve as their judge.
